Do You Feel More Connected to the Moon or the Sun?

I would say I didn’t randomly pick this prompt for my first #softandsimpleasks entry. I chose this because today I just witnessed a Partial Solar Eclipse.

It was cloudy so I wasn’t able to capture the peak of the eclipse. This picture was taken at about 3:45 pm, Puerto Princesa City.

Also, I found a random video on Youtube last night of Jonathan Groff singing my favorite Moon River.

Okay, I already dropped the answer.

Do you feel more connected to the moon or the sun?

MOON. Of course, moon.

Mainly for three reasons…

  1. The moon is subtle. Not as intense as the sun.
  2. The moon doesn’t always show its fullness.
  3. The moon (in literature) is almost always attached with deep and fervent emotions.

Also, you don’t get skin cancer from the moon (pardon my medically-oriented mind haha).

The subtlety and the mysteriousness of the moon is the perfect analogy for an INFJ-T like me.

Subtle because you know it is there, you can sense its presence but it doesn’t parade itself with much intensity and grandiosity as the sun.

Mysterious because there is a part of it that will always remain unknown. And after it has shown itself to the earth, after the full moon nights, it hides and recharges until it is once again ready to shine.

Lastly, all the songs and poems and literature that has moon in it are the closest to my heart.

And isn’t it more ideal to fall in love under the moonlight sky than a scorching sunny day?

(Sun and Moon from Miss Saigon)

I’m lying on the moon
My dear, I’ll be there soon
It’s a quiet and starry place
Time’s we’re swallowed up
In space we’re here a million miles awayThere’s things I wish I knew
There’s no thing I’d keep from you
It’s a dark and shiny place
But with you my dear
I’m safe and we’re a million miles away

(The Moon Song by Karen O)

I see the moon, the moon sees me
The moon sees somebody I want to see
God bless the moon and God bless me
And God bless the somebody I want to see.
